As a Dietitian Nutritionist, often the first question I get from someone newly diagnosed with Diabetes is, “what can I eat?”. I will teach you how to create healthy meals using a meal-plan that you feel comfortable with. It’s not always about Carbohydrate Counting. Other methods exist as well. I will teach you how to control your blood sugar by healthy eating, managing stress, solving problems and help you to understand your medications, including insulin.
If you have been diagnosed with Pre-diabetes or Metabolic Syndrome, consider yourself fortunate to have received this wake-up call, so that you can begin to take steps now to prevent Diabetes Type 2. I will teach you strategies that will help you to prevent the progress to T-2 Diabetes. Studies have shown that T-2 Diabetes can be prevented and/or put into remission.
What you eat will eventually affect your health, either in a positive way or a negative way. It can help you to live a long, healthy and fulfilling life or it can leave you vulnerable to becoming overweight, obese and suffering from chronic disease(s)and/or cancer. I will guide you to a truly healthy way of eating. Healthy meals and exercise needs to be balanced in order to achieve successful weight loss. You can exercise as much as you like but if you are not eating healthy foods, you will not receive the full benefit of weight loss, and vice versa. I will educate you on ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise into your lifestyle and create an individualized Meal-plan to help you to achieve your goal(s).

With healthcare coverage being such a controversial issue these days, the best thing we can all do for ourselves is to become healthy and remain as healthy as possible, for as long as we can, to avoid the need to use the Healthcare System. That means we need to understand how to feed our bodies so that it continues to function at its optimum level. We also need to resolve to engage in at least thirty minutes of moderate to intense physical activity every day, we need to reduce stress, get at least eight hours of restful sleep each night and yes, we need to be willing to change behaviors that can be a prelude to illness.
